We made Sunday dinner for about 15 people; I realized later that we only had 5 girls there including myself. Zac and Kendra made really tasty garlic mashed potatoes from scratch, Mel made the mac and cheese pie (from scratch), Brianne and I made the corn on the cob with butter/pepper/onion sauce, and Mel and I made the fried chicken. It was literally the best fried chicken I have ever had in my life. Following Mel's instructions, I chopped up cilantro, one garlic clove, and green onions, then added a little white vinegar and water and food processed it to get it pretty fine. We marinated the chicken in that overnight. Sunday evening Mel dipped it in a milk/egg mixture, then in seasoning flour from Winco, and fried it. YUM. After the 5 or so people we didn't know very well went home, we brought out sparkling cider and had banana bread with chocolate chips that Brandon'd made for dessert, plus some chocolate/peanut butter ice cream.
Today is going to be a homework day. I have two chapters to read (two different classes), a set of questions to do, a lab to do, some drawings to draw, a test tomorrow to study for, a project to start collaborating over, a paper to print out, and a quiz to take sometime today.
P.S. (added later) I found out I have 5 labs to do today, not one *sob*, though I've already done 3 of them as of typing this.
I'm using Mel's MacBook Pro, because she needs Excel for some assignment of hers, and the Excel she has on her Mac isn't working with it for whatever reason, so she's borrowing my laptop.
The maintenance guy just showed up to spray for ants!!! Yay!!! I had to kill about 8 in the bathroom just this morning. I was about to go buy ant traps, I didn't think he would ever come.
Moving sounds like the best alternative given the circumstances. You'll have to remember to put in a change of address for any subscriptions or other mail you get. Also, you'll want to go through and do the fine-tooth-comb apartment analysis like I did when you moved in (I hope you turned that paper in) so you aren't held responsible for pre-existing problems when you move out.
ReplyDeleteDo any of your dinner guests contribute to the grocery fund (or do they invite you over to reciprocate), or are you and your roommates giving away all your monthly grocery budget?
Yeah, I was already keeping in mind the change of address thing. I did turn that sheet in, and I'll have a week of down-time in which to evaluate the new apartment.
ReplyDeleteMel usually buys the groceries when we do Sunday dinners, and we'll give her money to help pay for that. Also other people cook for us as well (Jesse ordered us pizza, Brandon made us a Sunday dinner, banana bread, and cookies, Zac is making us dinner this upcoming Sunday). So no, we're not giving away our grocery budget.
Hey Antonia, what are you going to do about getting ANOTHER lock?
ReplyDeleteGaaah. I'm sure they'll move it for me.
ReplyDeleteI was wondering about the lock as well, but Ralph beat me to it. Good luck with the move, luckily you don't have as much stuff as your parents (yet) ;)
ReplyDeleteAnd living with guys isn't always drama-free either, just ask your dad about how it was in the German house with Roland as head-resident (can you say martial law?)
