I've been hearing there might be a filicide over this :) Mel (my roommate) wanted to go home to Colorado for the weekend, since it was a 3-day one, and asked our group of friends whether we wanted to go along. Everyone who went was: (in Mel's car) Mel, Kendra, a girl named Giselle who asked for a ride home (she lives in Parker, CO just like Mel), and David (Mel's friend from Provo); (in Brandon's car) Brandon, Heather, Jesse, Brianne, and Zac. We left about noon on Friday and drove to Provo to pick up David, where we also stopped for dinner at In-N-Out. We got to Parker later that night, unloaded the cars, and went to bed.

Saturday we got up about 9 and took turns using the one shower available to us. We drove over to Brianne's house and met her family, then had lunch. Mel, Kendra, and David ate Chinese, the rest of us had Thai, which was amazing. All the meals came with a complimentary miso soup, which was really good. I had pad Thai, medium spiciness, which was also really good. None of us had room for dessert. Then we drove to the light rail station and took the light rail to downtown Denver.

We wandered around downtown for quite a while, mostly window-shopping and listening to street performers and just enjoying how nice it was. We went in a few places; I only bought a couple things at one store that was having really good sales (I got a jacket for $6 and a coat for $12). We went into a wedding dress store just to look around, and all the girls were trying to convince me to try a dress on (the guys had run for the hills by that point), but I didn't. We went to the Cheesecake Factory (for cheesecake, what else); I had a slice of wild blueberry white chocolate truffle cheesecake. We took the light rail back to Mel's parents' house about 5, though Mel, Kendra, David, and I detoured by way of another mall because Mel had to get her car keys from her sister (they have HUGE malls in Denver). Everyone from the other car elected to spend the night at Brianne's sister's house, which made sense because we had 5 girls crammed on one queen size bed, with the four guys on a couch and two air mattresses. We had Trinidadian curry for dinner (Mel's family is from Trinidad), which tasted really good.
Sunday we got up and ready and just Kendra, Mel, David, one of Mel's sisters, and I went to church, cause some of the kids were sick. After church Mel's parents drove us up into the mountains to Red Rocks, which was gorgeous (if ridiculously cold), then to Buffalo Bill's grave, which had an amazing view.
Monday was Mel's little sister's birthday, so we sang to her and ate cake before we shoved off. Again, we left about noon. Mel drove, then David drove through the pass to Provo, then I drove from Provo up to Rexburg. Salt Lake was really foggy, but the drive was just fine. All in all, it was a really fun trip :)
Did you drive through Price, Utah?
ReplyDeleteWe might have, I don't know. I didn't notice all the places we passed. Why?
ReplyDeleteEvery year when I traveled from Provo to Jacksonville and back, I drove through Price. It is the biggest town on the state highway south of Provo that you drive on when you are driving from I-15 towards I-70.
ReplyDeleteI looked on Google Maps at the route we took, and it looks like we must have gone through Price (we took the I-70 and I-15). :)
