Busy Day

Got up at 8 to get ready to go to Idaho Falls. There was a Relief Society breakfast I was planning to go to, that had been scheduled for 8 at our ward building, but at the last minute they changed it to 9 and at a building that would take us 30-45 minutes to walk to, which meant by the time I got there, I would have to turn back around and go home again. Nicole picked me up a little after 10 with her two roommates, and we also picked up her friend Sarah that she's known forever. We drove out there, dropped her two roommates off at the mall, and went on to Lowe's (Sarah needed light bulbs). Went to Walmart, where Nicole and I bought some supplies we need for our sewing class; I'm giving her the seam ripper out of the kit I bought since I have one already, we're sharing a pack of bobbins, and she has a ton of scrap fabric that we can both use for our portfolio samples. We stopped by Sarah's uncle's house so she could pick up a towel she'd forgotten, then picked up the two roommates again. Made a pit-stop at Taco Bell for 94 cent chicken soft tacos (yum), and then went on to WinCo. I spent almost 50 dollars on groceries (don't worry, they'll last me an age and a half, though obviously I'll have to keep restocking on bread, milk, eggs, etc.) I was actually expecting it to be a ridiculous amount more than that, but WinCo is wonderfully cheap. We (carefully) shoved all our groceries in Nicole's trunk (and our laps... and the back window... and at our feet...), and tied bag handles differently to indicate whose bag was whose. Drove back to Rexburg and unloaded our stuff at wherever each of us happened to live. Put my groceries away, and made myself a nutella sandwich- nutella is expensive, I'll have to treat it as a delicacy! :)

Sorted the whites out of my laundry (I only had a few, so I figured I'd save them for a load next week), grabbed my Interiors textbook, and headed off to the laundry. Ran a successful load while reading my chapter. There was a quarter candy machine, so I bought a quarter's worth of Mike and Ike's; one Mike and Ike lasted me 15 minutes, which was a good indicator of how long I'd been studying, and how long my washer or dryer cycle had left to run. Finished studying 1 minute before my dryer load finished. Folded and packed up, then walked back to my apartment and put it all away. Shut myself in my room for about 5 minutes and took the chapter 3 quiz, which I got 100% on *phew*

I made myself wonderful banana chocolate chip muffins. I had to borrow a muffin tin from Madeleine, and made do with using the butter-wrapper to grease the tin (so they did stick some, I should buy the papers). But they were so good. Papa said to include recipes, so here we go (I made a half batch, the following will probably make about 13-14 muffins):

Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins (basic recipe courtesy of Erin Nagle, I rewrote it to make more sense for me)

Preheat oven to 400*F

Mix:

2 cups flour

2/3 cup sugar

1 Tablespoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

Mix separately, then add to dry:

1 cup milk

1/3 cup butter melted

1 egg beaten

Add:

1-2 bananas chopped/mashed

Add:

1 cup chocolate chips

Bake 20 minutes. (I did 15 minutes because I only made 6 muffins).

Yes, I was in process of eating that back muffin while trying to take a decent picture.

Made myself a tomato sandwich, which I ate for dinner with one of my muffins for dessert, and then Madeleine came in and asked if I'd like to go ice skating. We got a big group together, she and I and three girls we'd never met before, and a whole bunch of guys that her boyfriend knows. Drove over to the ice rink and waited in line a long time to pay (I brought my own skates so I didn't have to worry about them running out of the right size of rental skates, like most everyone else did). Skated for probably an hour, talking to Elliot, who was wearing a T-shirt *brr* and a fedora. He's a computer science major, and we found out we have really similar taste in music (we also talked about computers, movies, books, etc). He might lend me some movies (if I ever have time to watch them). The rink wasn't melted smooth, so we kept hitting bumps and almost dramatically face-planting, but not quite. After skating, we all went back to our apartments to give the guys time to order pizza (and to get out of our somewhat-wet clothes), then went to Madeleine's boyfriend's apartment and watched Confessions of a Shopaholic (and ate pizza).

Now I'm going to sleep. Okay, after I sew up Kendra's jeans, finish a tutorial, close the billion programs I have open, brush my teeth, put my camera away, set my alarms, etc. :)
