First Class Day

I should've posted this earlier, but the following are some pictures I took of my bedroom after I got it all set up:
Looking in from the door.

Yes, those are lens caps on my bed. I don't sleep with them :)

I have yet to put up my bulletin board (waiting on dorm tape).

I had to work on that tension rod (with Papa's help at first) for at least half an hour before it would work.

And, as usual, I am a ditz.

I looked at my schedule online either Sunday or Monday, and wrote all the information down. I knew that since today, my first day of classes, is a Tuesday, we'd be having devotional at 2pm, so I made sure to pack a skirt, a pair of Sunday shoes, and my scriptures in my backpack, to keep in my locker until after my last class ended at 1:45pm.

I got up at 6am this morning, got all ready, and left with my roommate Kendra to walk down to our first class, since they both start at 7:45. Near the north end of campus, she continued on to the Romney building, and I turned in to the Smith, where my first class is.

I went upstairs and found my classroom, which was empty, then hunted down my locker. Stuffed all my stuff into it, and went back to my class to wait. It was now 7:40, and there was not a living soul in there beside me, which concerned me a little. There were people waiting in the hallway, and I thought maybe there were two parts to the classroom, a lab (which I was in), and a normal classroom, so I checked. But all those people were filing into a room with a different number than the one on my schedule, so I figured I was all right where I was.

Then I re-realized it's Tuesday. I knew it was Tuesday, I'd packed for devotional. But I was following the Monday class schedule. I had about 30 seconds to get over to the third floor of the Clark building to my Clothing Construction class.

Grabbed my backpack and walked briskly over there. I was there maybe a minute late, but there were only a few students so far, and no teacher. Sat down, and talked a little with the girl across from me, waiting for Nicole to show up. She didn't. It's not like her to be late for a class, so I was again a little concerned.

I'd been sitting there about 5 minutes, being regaled with engagement and anniversary stories, when it occurred to me that my classes don't start at 7:45 every morning, only MWF. I was in this class two hours early. Meaning I got up two hours early. Ugh.

I excused myself from the classroom and quietly laughed my head off. I walked over to the library in my 3/4-sleeve shirt, which was warm enough for that short of a distance, grinning like a maniac, and got a lot of strange looks. After all, I was wandering around in probably 25*F weather looking like Hawaii compared to everyone else, grinning and striding happily along, and it was still so early that the stars would've been out if there hadn't been clouds. Poor people, they probably thought I escaped from somewhere.

So that's my day so far. I'll be in the library for another hour and a bit before I actually head off to class, and hopefully I'll get it right this time! :)

P.S. It's supposed to be -10*F tomorrow night, with -28*F windchill...

  1. Nice pictures. Funny story.

It's better to be 2 hours early than 2 hours late. Keep warm!
